Proposals accepted through May 15, 2018

We are now accepting proposals for the 2018 Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges (OATYC) conference. The conference theme celebrates the inherent diversity that creates the fabric of our two year colleges.

We are looking for proposals that explore the visible and invisible connections that create a unique learning environment at each of our community colleges, proposals that highlight best practices for coming together to create something bigger than the individual parts while recognizing the value of each individual pieces. Each of us - students, staff, and faculty - is a unique tesserae (the small pieces that artists fit together) that contributes to the mosaic at our college.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, policies and techniques, institutional methods, experimental cross disciplinary work, transformational initiatives, and strategies that speak to each segment of this discourse. On an individual or instructional level, how do you recognize the value of each potential contributor to the mosaic? How do you assemble and bind together the pieces to create the larger vision?

Presentation Formats

  • Individual paper presentations: 20 minutes
  • Panel presentations: 45 minutes
  • Roundtables: 30–45 minutes
  • PechaKuchu talks: 20 slides @ 20 seconds per slide (6:40)
  • Poster sessions: Informal, set up in common area

Several types of AV/technology are available for presentations, including computers with projection monitors (standard in all rooms), DVD players, interactive whiteboards, document cameras, etc. Some equipment has limited availability; please specify if the technology you request is a preference or necessity.

Proposal Guidelines

  • Name, institution, address, phone number, and email address of presenter(s)
  • Title and one-sentence description of your presentation
  • 100-word proposal that clearly connects your presentation to the conference theme
  • Presentation format and requested technology
  • 50-word presenter bio(s)
  • Submit to Adrienne Cassel (adrienne.cassel@sinclair.edu) by May 15, 2018

Each presenter must register at the full registration rate: $80 before September 29, 2018 and $85 thereafter.
